Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani has sought immediate intervention from Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari to address increasing traffic congestion and road safety concerns at Chinnakakani junction near Kaza toll plaza on Guntur-Vijayawada National Highway.

During a meeting held at Mr. Gadkari’s residence in New Delhi on Monday, May 11, 2026, Mr. Pemmasani gave a presentation highlighting persistent traffic bottlenecks at the junction where the Vijayawada Western Ring Road meets NH-16. He urged the ministry to consider building a grade-separated intersection or a one-way flyover to facilitate vehicle movement and improve commuter safety.

The minister explained that in the absence of a grade-separated junction, vehicles bound for Vijayawada have to navigate a narrow two-lane service road under the flyover and have to make U-turns, causing protracted traffic problems and inconvenience to thousands of commuters.

Pemmasani also pointed out that there was an increase in traffic accidents in the region and emphasized that urgent corrective measures should be taken for public safety. According to the official statement, Gadkari responded positively and instructed the relevant officials to look into the issue and take necessary measures.
