India on Friday condemned the killing of a Hindu teenager in Bangladesh and expressed serious concern over what it described as “incessant hostility” against minorities in the neighboring country.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the government expects the perpetrators of the crime to be brought to justice.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India remains committed to strong people-to-people ties with Bangladesh, promoting peace and stability there and consistently calling for free, fair, inclusive and participatory elections.

Jaiswal’s statement came amid reports that atrocities against Hindus have increased in Bangladesh and extreme violence continues unabated.
Two Hindu Youths Were Lynched by Gangs in Bangladesh This Week
So far this week, two Indian Hindu youths have been killed by gangs in Bangladesh. On December 18, Deepu Chandra Das was lynched by a mob and set on fire for alleged blasphemy. A few days later, on December 24, another Hindu youth, identified as Amrit Mandal, was lynched by a mob on the pretext of extortion.
Following India’s strong reaction to the lynching of Deepu Chandra Das, the interim government led by Yunus assured that those responsible would be brought to justice. Police forces detained 12 people regarding the incident.
Bangladesh’s interim government led by Muhammad Yunus also strongly condemned the killing of Amrit Mandal and said legal action would be taken against everyone involved.
“The government strongly condemns this murder. The government wishes to make it clear that it does not support any extrajudicial activity, gang violence or illegal behavior under any circumstances. Legal action will be taken against anyone directly or indirectly involved in the incident,” ANI quoted Yunus government as saying in a statement. he said.
Bangladesh Sees Increase in Violence Since Interim Government Takes Office
These killings occurred against the backdrop of a wave of violence that has gripped Bangladesh since Mohammed Younis came to power. Tensions rose sharply two weeks ago following the killing of Islamic extremist leader Shariq Usman Hadi, which triggered protests blamed on India.
