Tesco trials avocado scanner at five stores to tell you whether your fruit is ripe

Shoppers will be able to access a new way to check whether Tesco’s avocados purchased from the store are mature while experimenting with a new high -tech system.
The machines available in five stores of this week work like an x -ray, Read the inner state of the fruit.

The technology, called a third avocado browser after the Dutch company that invented it, measures maturity in a few seconds by aiming to help consumers to choose perfect fruits.
The company explains that technology is working by determining its inner state and scanning it through avocado using light. The purpose of the service is to compress or squeeze the avocado, to destroy potentially flesh and to avoid customers who cause food wastes.

Tesco Avocado buyer Lisa Lawrence said: “The browser will choose the avocado that can help shoppers the right for them and therefore help them to plan their use and the desired shelf life, so that they can help cutting waste.
“The shredded Avocado in Sourdough continues to be one of the most trendy snacks and we gain millions of opinions on social media sites for recipe ideas, so we think it will be really popular among browser shoppers.”

Tesco said that avocados were not more popular and sold about 15 million more avocados in 52 weeks last year.
The Supermarket giant worked with Lincolnshire, Spalding -based global avocado supplier Westfalia Fruit.
