DGP Declares Karreguttalu Naxal-Free Area

warangal:Director General of Police Shivdhar Reddy on Monday declared the once restive Karreguttalu hills in Mulugu district Naxal-free and launched a series of development initiatives in Pamunuru village, marking a shift from conflict to growth.

Addressing the tribal community of Guthi Koya, he assured of continued government support and distributed a rickshaw, a two-wheeler and basic necessities to seven families to enhance their livelihood. He also announced plans to develop Karreguttalu into a tourist destination supported by a police station and an inter-agency coordination center involving the Forest, Revenue Department, CRPF and Police departments.

In Venkatapuram, the DGP spearheaded the ‘Come Alive’ road safety programme, distributing 200 helmets and opening free eye examination camps. At the event attended by approximately 3000 people, it was called for strict compliance with traffic rules.

Earlier, a minor accident occurred when one vehicle rear-ended another during a convoy trial near Venkatapuram. No injuries were reported. Senior officials including PCCF Suvarna, ADG Anil Kumar, SIB IG Sumathi, CRPF IG Vikram, SP Sudheer Ramnath Kekan and ASP Manan Bhatt were present.

The visit to the Chhattisgarh border region is seen as a strategic move to strengthen control over former Maoist strongholds and accelerate infrastructure development.
