Despite heavy investments of almost 20% of the payroll, resistance emerged, including direct sabotage. Vaughan reported: “We met resistance in those early days, obviously ‘Yeah, I’m not going to do that’ resistance. And so we said goodbye to those people.” Surprisingly, technical employees were often the most resistant, while marketing and sales were enthusiastically embracing AI.

The Return of Radical Change

IgniteTech achieved remarkable results after reorganizing and building a team of AI adopters. By the end of 2024, the organization had launched two patent-pending AI solutions, including the Eloquens AI platform for email automation, and completed a major acquisition. Vaughan reported strong profitability with an EBITDA margin of almost 75%.

“Give humans the ability to reproduce themselves [with AI] and get things done at a certain pace,” Vaughan said, noting the speed and efficiency gains enabled by an AI-first workforce. In the following months, the company continued to hire world-class AI Innovation Specialists in marketing, sales, finance and engineering.
