Four people shot dead in US during family gathering

Four people were killed when more than a dozen people were shot at a family gathering in California.

The attack occurred Saturday night during a meeting at a banquet hall in the northern California city of Stockton, sheriff’s officials said.

The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office said deputies investigated and multiple victims were taken to the hospital.

Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Heather Brent said the victims included children and adults.

Brent told reporters at the scene that initial indications “suggest this may have been a targeted incident.”

The shooting occurred at the banquet hall, which shares its parking lot with other businesses.

Detectives were still working to determine a possible motive.

Authorities did not immediately provide information about the victims’ conditions.
