WASHINGTON, July 7 (Reuters) – U.S. Central Command said on Tuesday it had completed a new round of strikes against Iran, hitting more than 80 targets during its latest strikes.

In addition to launching a new wave of attacks against Iran, Washington also revoked the license that allowed the country to sell oil after three tankers were hit by bullets in the Strait of Hormuz.

“U.S. forces struck Iran’s air defense systems, command and control networks, coastal radar sites, anti-ship missile capabilities, and more than 60 Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps small boats in and near the Strait of Hormuz to weaken Iran’s ability to continue attacking international commerce flowing through the international trade corridor,” the U.S. military said in a statement. he said.

“CENTCOM forces remain ready and prepared to hold Iran accountable if the agreement is not followed or complied with.”

Iran’s top joint military command said Iran’s armed forces would deliver an “overwhelming response”, accusing Washington of what it described as a “blatant act of aggression” and warning that Tehran would not allow US interference in the management of the Strait of Hormuz.

The ceasefire in the Iran war remained fragile. The war began when the United States and Israel attacked Iran on February 28, and Iran responded with its own attacks on Israel and the Gulf states hosting US bases.

During the war, US-Israeli attacks on Iran and Israeli attacks on Lebanon resulted in the deaths of thousands and the displacement of millions. The war also raised oil prices and shook markets around the world.
