US Secretary Of State Marco Rubio Slams India Over Russian Oil Purchases, Calls It “Point Of Irritation” In Ties | India News

“India is an ally. This is a strategic partner. Like everything else in foreign policy, you won’t align everything in foreign policy.”

“India needs great energy, and it includes things that it needs to give strength to its oil, coal and gas and economy from Russia, because Russian oil sanctions and cheap and cheap and – that is, they sell it under global price due to sanctions.”

The US State Secretary underlined the influence of this trade on the ongoing war in Ukraine. “This – unfortunately helps to maintain Russian war efforts. So it’s definitely a point of irritation in our relationship with India – not the only point of irritation. We have many other cooperation points with them.” He said.

“But I think what you see is President Express is a very disappointment that India continues to receive a lot from Russia with many other oil sellers existing and allows this war to continue in Ukraine.”

Rubio’s comments came to the background of President Donald Trump’s task on Truth Social, where he announced 25% tariffs and additional penalties in India from August 1, and 35% of the total supply of Russian oil imports in the first half of the year.

Rubio also detailed the wider context of US participation with Russia and possible punishing options. If there is no sincere interest in peace from Moscow, Trump has options such as “secondary sanctions on oil sales of Russian oil” and “sectoral banking sanctions”.

On Russian threats, Rubio rejected the last comments of former president Dmitry Medvedev, but irrelevant. “He is not a relevant player in Russian politics … Absolutely in an official position that says inflamed things in Russia … I do not think this will be a factor in one way or another,” he said.

Also, ignoring the real possibility of a US-Russian war, “This is not even a pleasant thing … I think what you’re worried more about is a conflict or miscalculation … Since the Russians were not very good in traditional weapons, almost always tactical nuclear weapons would have to rely on some other ways.”

Commenting on the recognition of a Palestinian state by some Western countries, Rubio calls the movement as “irrelevant” and “against the opposite”, only strengthens Hamas and hurts cease -fire efforts. “It cannot be the Palestinian state unless Israel accepts it … This is inefficient.” He said.

He also thanked the Arab countries like Qatar for pushing Hamas towards the ceasefire, but criticized the influence of international statements recognizing Palestine. “Israel actually made a lot of concessions that Hamas wanted … And then Hamas returned and rejected the agreement – and in the meantime, Macron from France rejected the same day.”

In China, Rubio accepted complex ties and recent trade talks: “We have many problems that we don’t agree with China … But a mature foreign policy requires strategic balancing of shares.” At the end of the interview, before being cut, “There are security vulnerabilities to close … And I think we have a responsibility”.

Rubio also strongly defended the previous Senate investigation on the 2016 US election intervention and said, “There was any zilch evidence that the Trump campaign overlap with the Russians – there was any evidence.” He hit the processing of the Steele file and called “a lie”, which cost millions of dollars in investigations – all chased a scam.

He criticized us and the international media for neglecting the situation of Israeli hostages organized by Hamas. “Obviously, we’ve done more than someone else in terms of financing … You know what the cameras do not catch? Currently, 20 people living in the tunnels took over the pain by Hamas.”

Rubio’s words, the increasing tensions between Washington and its most important allies, emphasizes Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine and the changing geopolitical accounts around China, Israel and West Asia.
