US shooting leaves multiple dead at bar as 20 injured | US | News

Authorities have confirmed that four people were killed and at least 20 others were injured in a mass shooting at a crowded bar on a picturesque South Carolina island.

Early Sunday morning in St. Gunshots rang out at Willie’s Bar and Grill on Helena Island. There was a significant crowd present when sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene and found several people suffering from gunshot wounds.

“Multiple victims and witnesses ran to nearby businesses and properties to seek shelter from the gunshots,” the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement on social media platform X. he said. “This is a tragic and difficult incident for everyone. We ask for your patience as we continue to investigate this incident. Our thoughts are with all the victims and their loved ones.”

While 4 people were found dead at the scene, at least 20 people were injured in the mass shooting. Four of the injured were in critical condition and were treated in local hospitals. The identities of the injured were not disclosed.

“I was TOTALLY HEARTBREAKED when I learned of the devastating shooting in Beaufort County,” U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace said on X. “Our prayers are with the victims, their families and everyone affected by this horrific act of violence.”

This horrific incident unfolded in South Carolina after another deadly incident of gun violence culminated in a deadly shooting spree at high school graduation celebrations in Mississippi.

Two separate shooting incidents on opposite ends of the state Friday night resulted in at least eight deaths and multiple injuries. Mirror reports. Six people died in downtown Leland following a high school football game in the Mississippi Delta region at the state’s western edge, the county coroner confirmed.

Washington County Coroner La’Quesha Watkins released a statement confirming that four people died at the scene and two others died of injuries at the hospital. Approximately 20 people were injured in the shooting, which occurred after fans gathered downtown after the game, State Senator Derrick Simmons reported.

Four of the injured were seriously injured and had to be airlifted from a nearby Greenville hospital to a larger medical facility in the state capital, Jackson. Simmons was notified of the situation by law enforcement in Delta.

“People were just getting together and having a good time in downtown Leland,” Simmons said of the town, which has a population of less than 4,000. He described the aftermath of the shooting as “very chaotic,” with police, sheriff’s deputies and ambulances responding from everywhere.

“This is just senseless gun violence,” he lamented. “What we are experiencing now is nothing more than the proliferation of weapons in circulation.”
