US strikes hit Iran for seventh consecutive night
The US military announced that it carried out its seventh night attacks against Iran since US President Donald Trump declared the temporary ceasefire agreement “over”.
“The strikes are designed to continue disrupting Iran’s military capabilities at the direction of the Commander in Chief,” US Military Central Command (Centcom) said in a statement. he said.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) said two oil tankers exploded while passing through a mined section of the shipping channel in the Strait of Hormuz; this claim was later denied by Centcom as false.
Iranian media reported that explosions were heard in the central city of Yazd, the island of Qeshm and the port of Bandar Abbas next to the strait.
Iran’s state-run Fars agency said two oil tankers “exploded and caught fire while passing through a mined route south of the Strait of Hormuz.”
Later, Centcom posted on X: “Like most of the Eastern Revolutionary Guard’s claims, this is false.”
Shipping traffic in the vital Strait of Hormuz has largely halted due to ongoing tit-for-tat attacks by US and Iranian forces. In normal times, the Bosphorus provides approximately one fifth of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas resources.
On Friday, Iranian armed forces claimed to have attacked several US military facilities in the Gulf region, including Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan and, for the first time, Syria, which the US denied.
Previously, Kuwaiti officials announced that many soldiers were injured in Iranian drone attacks, and a power plant and water desalination stations were also damaged.

Friday marks the first week of nightly U.S. strikes since the collapse of peace talks with Iran as tensions over the future of the Strait of Hormuz hinder efforts to broker a permanent ceasefire.
