US ‘wants clarity from allies’ on potential Taiwan war

Pentagon calls for Japan and Australia to clarify which role they will play if the US and China go to war on Taiwan.

Elbridge Colby, the Secretary of the US Policy Presidency, is pushing the issue in the latest talks with the defense officials of both countries.

According to the newspaper, the report reported both Tokyo and Canberra on duty, because the US itself does not provide an empty check guarantee to defend Taiwan.

The Reuters could not verify the report.

The US Department of Defense did not respond immediately to the request for comments.

Although the United States does not have official diplomatic ties, Taiwan is the most important weapon supplier.

Beijing met with increasing military pressure from China, including a few rounds of war games, as he aims to claim allegations of sovereignty against the island.

Taiwan rejects China’s claim of sovereignty.

Colby became the Deputy Secretary of Defense Secretary of Strategy and Force Development in the first period of President Donald Trump.

Colby is known to argue that the US army should prioritize competition with China and shift its focus from the Middle East and Europe.
