US will impose 35% blanket tariffs on Canadian imports, Trump says in letter | Trump tariffs

Donald Trump said that on Thursday, the US will apply 35% tariff for imports from Canada next month and apply 15% or 20% blanket tariffs to other trade partners.

In a letter published on the social media platform, Trump said Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney will enter into force on August 1st and increase if he retaliate Canada.

In March, Trump brought 25% tariff to cars and automobile parts imported from Canada. In June, Canada announced a 50% tariff for steel and aluminum imports. New rates apply to all other goods.

Trump’s letter is wrong, but often repeated the belief that tariffs were paid by foreign countries or businesses. In fact, tariffs are an import tax that is paid by US importers and is generally transferred to US consumers.

The new tariff rates set by Trump this week found that if the US International Court of International Court loses the appeal of a negative decision by the US International Court of International, the President of this month, in May, the president has passed beyond his legal authority to apply tariffs to implement tariffs because it was not a real emergency.

“Whether it’s just 20% or 15%, we’ll say that all the remaining countries will pay. We will solve it now,” Trump said.
