UTSA coach falls while trying to escape victory shower

UTSA head coach Jeff Traylor had a near-perfect night in his team’s dominant 57-20 victory over Florida International in the First Responder Bowl at Gerald J. Ford Stadium on Friday.
Why wasn’t it a perfect night for Traylor? He couldn’t avoid getting soaked.
Traylor, 57, knew what was going to happen as the clock ticked down in the fourth quarter: He was about to be swamped by his players. So the head coach headed to the end of the sideline, hoping to escape the impending downpour.

His attempt to escape was in vain when Traylor reached the end of the sideline, turned around and saw wide receiver Jamel Hardy Jr. coming after him. Traylor was grabbed by a reporter and then drenched.
Traylor fell onto the Servpro mat on the sideline as a last resort to avoid the water, which proved costly. Traylor was attacked by his players and found himself at the bottom of an unprepared dog pile, creating a hilarious scene.

While Traylor was at the bottom of the dog pile, another bucket of water was dumped on him by defensive lineman Kaian Roberts-Day.
Aside from fumble eluding his players during the celebration, Traylor had a good night. UTSA won easily for its sixth straight bowl appearance.

FIU jumped out to a 14-0 lead early, but UTSA came back to tie it at 14 before the end of the first quarter and they never looked back.
UTSA held a 310-93 advantage in total yards in the first half. Quarterback Owen McCown threw for three touchdowns and running back Will Henderson III also threw for three touchdowns.
