Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is my new favourite player: SRH skipper Pat Cummins
Speaking at the post-match press conference after Hyderabad’s comfortable five-wicket win, Cummins praised Sooryavanshi’s aggressive approach and ability to dominate bowlers early in his career. He noted that the youngster’s powerful batting makes him a dangerous prospect and forces bowlers to be sensitive about their lines and lengths.
“I think he’s my new favorite player. He hits the ball so hard, it’s great to watch, it’s great fun. As a bowler you’ve got to be on the money because if you’re not, you’ve gone a long way,” Cummins said.
Sooryavanshi’s attacking intent quickly made him one of the standout young players of the tournament, garnering praise from competitors and pundits alike. His ability to accelerate the scoring rate and disrupt bowling attacks has added a new dimension to Rajasthan’s batting line-up this season.
The experienced speedster also stated that Sooryavanshi has made an impressive start to his career and his fearless style of play has attracted attention. “He’s had a great start to his career and I love his style of play, he just keeps playing,” he added.
RR posted a strong score of 228/6 thanks to Sooryavanshi’s 103 off 37 balls and a superb score of 51 off 35 balls from Jurel. Donovan Ferreira also added a quick cameo of 16-ball 33 late in the innings.
In response, SRH lost Travis Head early but recovered strongly as Ishan Kishan (74 off 31) and Abhishek Sharma (57 off 29) put up a 132-run stand to set up the chase. Despite a couple of late wickets, Heinrich Klaasen (29) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (36) ensured the required rate remained in check as SRH comfortably completed the chase in 18.3 overs.
