Venezuela acting president seeks US govt collaboration

Venezuelan Deputy President Delcy Rodriguez, in a statement he made in a conciliatory tone on social media after the USA captured President Nicolas Maduro, invited the US government to cooperate on a cooperation agenda.

He said Venezuela “desires to live without external threats” and wants to prioritize moving toward balanced and respectful relations with the United States.

Here is the text of the statement:
“A message from Venezuela to the world and the USA:

“Venezuela once again confirms its commitment to peace and peaceful coexistence. Our country wishes to live in an environment of respect and international cooperation, without external threats. We believe that global peace will be built by first “guaranteeing peace” within each nation.

“We prioritize moving toward balanced and respectful international relations between the United States and Venezuela, and between Venezuela and other countries in the region, based on sovereign equality and noninterference. These principles guide our diplomacy with the rest of the world.
“We invite the U.S. government to cooperate with us on a cooperation agenda for common development within the framework of international law to strengthen the lasting coexistence of societies.” President Donald Trump, our people and our region deserve peace and dialogue, not war. This has always been the message of President Nicolas Maduro, and it is now the message of all of Venezuela. This is the Venezuela I believe in and to which I have devoted my life. I dream of a Venezuela where all good Venezuelans can come together.

“Venezuela has the right to peace, development, sovereignty and a future.”

The statement was signed by Delcy Rodriguez, Vice President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
