Venkatesh and Rana Daggubati to Team Up for a Sequel?

With sequels becoming the new trend in Tollywood, veteran star Venkatesh is also set to join this group. If industry buzz is to be believed, the actor has given his nod to the sequel of his blockbuster Sankranthiki Vasthunam in 2025.

The much-anticipated sequel, titled Adhiripodhi Sankranthi, which is currently in the works, is expected to hit the screens during the Pongal holidays in January 2027. The film will once again be directed by director Anil Ravipudi. Who’s among the biggest hits these days? While the sequel will continue the festive spirit, sources clarify that it will feature an entirely new script and new character arcs.

Interestingly, it is said that the sequel will bring Venkatesh and his nephew Rana Daggubati together on the big screen. “Both actors will have strong and interesting roles and their on-screen clashes will be one of the highlights,” a source said.

Previously, Venkatesh and Rana had shared screen space in the controversial yet successful web series Rana Naidu; Here, the estranged father and son were portrayed in darker tones. “But this time, both will be seen in positive, good-hearted roles and will be paired with each other to step up the performance,” the source added.

Star producer Dil Raju is expected to bankroll the project, which has been a huge success with the first film being a huge box office hit.

Venkatesh has carved a unique niche in Tollywood and established himself as the go-to star of family entertainment. Meanwhile, Rana Daggubati is also aiming to connect with family audiences in two Telugu states next year. The source concluded that bringing the duo together for this sequel was seen as a major casting coup.
