Victoria to name and shame most expensive servos in new Servo Saver update

Hoping to push the ceiling on acceptable petrol prices in Victoria, the servos have been announced following a recent update to the Service Victoria app’s Servo Saver feature.

The new feature will “name and shame” the highest priced servos in any region at any given time; This means Victorians can browse and potentially avoid the priciest spots on the map.

Until now, the cheapest gas stations were shown with a green frame and a label that said “lowest,” but there was no way to indicate the most expensive stations.

Map icons will now be surrounded in red with the slogan “highest” above their logo.

Consumer Affairs Minister Nick Staikos said the Victorian government was “cracking down on retailers who are deliberately trying to rip off Victorians”.

“With these changes, it will now be easier to prevent retailers from scamming you and find the cheapest fuel,” he said.

Government Services Minister Danny Pearson said Servo Saver had “successfully helped hundreds of Victorians find the best deal”.

“These new features will further improve users’ experience,” he said.

On Monday morning, the most expensive diesel fuel in Victoria was flowing through St Albans Road Astron at exactly $4 a litre.

At the Shell service station in Hawthorn, the most expensive unleaded gasoline was $3.50 a litre; This was in sharp contrast to neighboring 7-Eleven’s offer of $2.18 per liter.

Unleaded Premium sells for $3.49 a liter at Baranduda BP, just down the road from Wodonga, and Unleaded 98 sells for 3.80 cents a liter at Bundalong.
