“Born on public housing and raised in Melbourne’s western suburbs, he has always been a passionate advocate for creating opportunities for others and a passionate voice for the diverse and growing communities he now represents,” he said.
“I offer my sincere thanks to this government and its service to all Victorians.”
Hutchins was first elected in 2010 and was first appointed as a minister following the election of the Andrews government in 2014.
She has held various positions over the past decade and currently serves as minister for treaties, government services, women and the prevention of domestic violence.
Hutchins became the fifth Labor MP to announce his retirement in the elections this year.
Last month, Steve McGhie, Jordan Crugnale, Jackson Taylor and Emma Vulin announced that they would not participate in the 2026 elections.
