An Oregon father was outraged to learn that his 11-year-old son would be subject to a state-administered sexual orientation and gender identity survey that asks children to indicate their sexual orientation, gender identity and whether they are transgender.

“I somehow found out about this survey online,” Chuck Gonzales said in an interview with Fox News Digital on Tuesday. joins Minter Bridge Elementary School is in Hillsboro, a suburb of Portland, Oregon.

“I may have received this through an email, but this was a survey from the Oregon Health Authority asking questions about our children’s sixth, eighth and eleventh grades,” Gonzales said. “And the survey asks sixth graders a lot of really confusing things. And one of them is discussing and asking about their gender and sexual identity. So when I heard about that, I went to the website, downloaded the PDF form, and of course, it was right there.”

2024 Student Health Survey Questions such as “what is your gender identity” were asked, and multiple choice answers included “girl or woman, boy or boy, half-girl/half-boy, non-binary, genderfluid, genderqueer or questioning, and gender/gender none.”

In gender terminology, a half-girl/half-boy is defined as someone who identifies as part girl or woman, while a half-boy is someone who identifies as part boy or man. The prefix “Demi” is meant to convey the belief that gender is partial rather than whole, and that the other part of gender identity can be anything, including another gender, genderless, or a fluid gender.

Another question asks the student if he or she is transgender, and the answer options are: “Yes,” “No,” “I’m not sure,” “I don’t know what this question is asking,” and “I prefer not to answer.”

“It’s frustrating that the government, the state of Oregon, and liberal progressives in Salem think they can walk into our kids’ bedrooms and ask them things they have no idea about,” Gonzales said. “My son had no idea what any of this meant, but he knew it was weird, sick, and disgusting.”

In an additional question, students were asked about their sexual orientation and were told that they could choose more than one answer.

Responses to the question included “straight, lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, asexual or aromantic, queer, questioning, ‘Something else would be more appropriate, please tell us more,’ ‘I’m not sure about my sexual orientation,’ ‘I don’t know what this question is asking,’ and ‘I choose not to answer.'”

Gonzales said he thought most of the parents he talked to didn’t know the survey existed.

“When I heard about this survey, none of the parents I talked to or commented on online had heard anything about it,” Gonzales said. “And of course a lot of people thought it was completely made up and ridiculous. But when it actually came out, when I shared the link and my parents private messaged me, I sent them the link to the survey so they could opt out.”

He said he believed the survey was a direct affront to parental rights.

“They have no right to go above and beyond the values we have as Christians,” he said. “They have absolutely no right to step into sexual values that a child doesn’t have. They’re just projecting their own ideology onto our children. So yes, as a Christian and as a Catholic it’s infuriating, but just as a parent and defending what’s good based on what’s clearly bad in this situation, it’s very frustrating.”

Gonzales encouraged other parents to get involved rather than stay silent.

“Parents, don’t be afraid to go to your city council meetings, your school district meetings, but also don’t blow your gasket,” Gonzales said. “The way to win is to control our own thoughts, our own words and our own emotions.”

“Each parent/guardian received advance notice of this survey in two ways: through our ParentSquare communications system and through a hard copy sent home with the student. The school received a signed opt-out form for this student and did not participate in the survey,” Hillsboro School District communications officer Beth Graser said in a statement to Fox News Digital. He also posted a video on Facebook showing his son reading parts of the survey and urging parents to take action.

“Parents, wake up! The state of Oregon is administering invasive surveys to our 11-year-old sixth graders — yes, OUR CHILDREN — asking them to provide information about their ‘sexual orientation,'” Gonzales said. last Facebook post.

“What in God’s name is going on?” he asked. “I am a father who prays day and night for the souls of my children. I teach them to know right from wrong, but now the bureaucrats in Salem think they have a say? Without a word to me? This is not education; it is a sneaky end run around us, probing tender hearts before they are ready. These kids are still trading Pokémon cards and scraping their knees, not tearing their identities apart!”

“This is wrong,” Gonzales said in his post. “This is a violation. And as a Catholic conservative, I’m done being nice. Our children are not lab rats in a progressive experiment. They are gifts entrusted to us by God, not the government. This erodes everything: our rights, our faith, their innocence. Fellow parents, stand up! Call your representatives. Flood the schools. Sign the petitions. Protect the little ones — because if we don’t, who will? #KidsOurHands #OregonParentsUnite #CatholicMomFight #ParentalRights If you’re with me, let’s pray and take action.”
