In a statement on Thursday, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that Simferopol, the discovery ship of the Ukrainian Navy, the largest ship assigned by the country in more than a decade, was shot and sank on a sea drone strike.

The attack killed a crew member and wounded many other people, Kiev Independent referred to a Ukrainian navy spokesman on Thursday.
“After the attack, the efforts to deal with the attack continues. The majority of the crew is safe and a few missing sailors continue to search for.”
Simferopol was released in 2019 and two years later joined the Ukrainian navy.
According to the Wargonzo Telegram channel, the ship was the largest ship Kiev has been able to release since 2014.
In recent months, Russia has taken action to accelerate the production of sea drones and other unmanned systems that have survived to the Ukrainian conflict.
