A despicable self-confessed sex addict has been sentenced to prison after admitting 11 sexual assaults. William Kidd, 27, was seen on CCTV footage spraying the substance in the bottle onto the hair and backs of women in supermarkets. Kidd was filmed in store aisles five times in Cheshire and Greater Manchester.
It was also revealed that he stalked women between May and September of the same year. In the footage, Kidd is seen following women in supermarkets and spraying the liquid in the bottle on them without their knowledge. Forensic analysis has since shown that the substance was Kidd’s semen. Most of his victims were completely unaware of Kidd.
Kidd had visited stores in Macclesfield, Handforth and Stanley Green in Cheshire, as well as Denton and Stockport in Greater Manchester. Footage taken from Kidd’s phone also revealed that he filmed up the skirt of a woman pushing a supermarket cart.
Manchester Crown Court heard he told security guards: “I’m a sex addict” and “I did it to get sexual excitement” when asked why he was spraying women. He was sentenced to four years in jail on Friday (May 29) and was also handed an indefinite sexual harm prevention order, Sun reported.
Kidd was charged with a total of 25 crimes. These included 11 counts of sexual assault, 5 counts of voyeurism, 8 counts of filming women under their clothes and one count of marijuana possession. On Friday, May 29, at Manchester Crown Court in Stanhope Street, Stockport, Kidd was sentenced to four years in prison.
Senior prosecutor Shannen Carey, a specially trained solicitor in CPS Merseyside and Cheshire’s rape and serious sexual offenses unit, said: “Over a period of around four months last summer William Kidd became a prolific offender who was completely unaware of what he was doing and simply targeted women shoppers.
“He clearly had no idea how these women would feel. The impact of what he did will undoubtedly remain with the victims for a long time and he is now a convicted sex offender. “The CPS would like to thank the victims for their help in bringing this prosecution and the retail workers at the stores where the crime took place for their help in providing evidence.
“We would also like to thank Cheshire Police for their thorough investigation.”
Speaking after the sentencing, DC Tiffany Berry-Perkin said: “Kidd deliberately targeted innocent women as they went about their daily lives, completely unaware of the depraved acts he was committing against them.
“His behavior is completely unacceptable and I welcome him being held accountable behind bars where he can no longer pose a danger to women in our communities.”
