Pakistan Army Faces Major Setback; Suicide Bomber Breaches FC Camp In Nokundi | World News

A deadly attack took place on the camp of Pakistani forces in Balochistan’s Chagai district on Sunday evening. It was stated that the authorities did not provide any information about the dead and injured. Continuous gunfire and multiple explosions were heard for more than an hour, and fighting was still active at the time of notification.

According to The Balochistan Post (TBP), A “suicide bomber” detonated explosives at the main entrance of the Frontier Corps Headquarters in Nokundi, security officials said. Additionally, authorities stated that gunshots still continued in the facility after the first explosion.

Meanwhile, initial reports indicated that the “bomber” blew himself up at the main gate, which led to a large number of armed attackers entering the camp.

Who Claimed Responsibility for the Attack?

No group initially claimed responsibility. However, later on Sunday, the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) announced that a sub-unit of the organisation, as TBP stated, had carried out a “heavy attack” on what it described as the central compound used by foreign personnel working on the Reko Diq and Saindak mining projects in Nokundi.

The group claimed that the operation was ongoing and promised to make a detailed statement following the operation. Pakistani officials did not respond to BLF’s allegations.

This latest attack is part of increased armed actions across Balochistan in the last 24 hours, with militant groups targeting Pakistani forces with IED blasts, ambushes and attacks on checkpoints in various areas.

Experts Discussed the Attacks

ANI reported that experts suggest that the recent spate of attacks shows that Baloch armed groups still have the capacity to launch attacks “where and when they want” despite severe security measures in place.

According to TBP’s news, it was emphasized that internet services, transportation and many city centers have been closed in order to prevent attacks in recent days, but armed groups are still able to conduct operations in many regions.

Chagai District

The Chagai district, where the ongoing attack took place, is home to the Reko Diq copper and gold deposits, which are among the world’s largest untapped reserves and a key component of Pakistan’s mining and investment strategies.
