Virat Kohli Becomes First Indian to Complete 14,000 T20 Runs

Raipur: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star batsman Virat Kohli became the first Indian batsman to reach 14,000 runs in T20 cricket. The RCB star brought up the milestone with his 78th run against Kolkata Knight Riders in the 57th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 in Raipur on Wednesday night. Overall, Kohli is the sixth batsman in the world to achieve this milestone. The veteran batsman hit a magnificent hundred against KKR and scored his 9th IPL hundred by playing some incredible shots. Chris Gayle (14,562), Kieron Pollard (14,482), Alex Hales (14,449), David Warner (14,284) and Jos Buttler (14,200) are ahead of Virat Kohli on the all-time T20 run scoring list. Kohli also became the fastest player to reach 14,000 T20 runs in terms of innings scored, reaching the milestone in 409 innings, surpassing Chris Gayle’s previous record of 423 innings.

In T20 cricket, Chris Gayle tops the list with 22 centuries, followed by Babar Azam with 13 hundreds. David Warner and Virat Kohli are third with 10 centuries each. Behind them are Rilee Rossouw and Sahibzada Farhan, who have nine tons each, as well as Quinton de Kock and Abhishek Sharma, who have also shared nine T20 hundreds. With this, Kohli became the first Indian to score 10 T20 hundreds. Coming into this match on the back of two consecutive ducks, Kohli’s unbeaten 105 from 60 balls helped champions RCB beat KKR by six wickets in the IPL 2026 match at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur on Wednesday.
