Vizianagaram district administration will launch a special campaign on Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter list in all mandals in the district on July 11 and 12, amid mounting pressure on the Election Commission of India (ECI) to comply with the July 14 deadline for completion of the exercise.
Authorities distributed around 15.90 lakh census forms to voters in the district. However, the completed forms have not yet been transferred to digital media. Approximately 75% of the form upload process is complete.

The unavailability of details of voters shifting to other places has hampered the SIR process in many places. The government decided to launch the special campaign on the weekend of July 11 and 12 in the hope that all voters would be at home.
Deputy Election Commissioner Pavan Kumar Sarma, Vizianagaram Collector S. Ramsundar Reddy, Joint Collector S. Sedhu Madhavan and other senior officials are monitoring the SIR process to meet the deadline. The draft voter list will be published on July 21, 2026.
Mr. Ramsundar Reddy asked all officials to focus on SIR special campaign and ensure absolute transparency in preparation of new voters list.
The opposition YSR Congress Party alleged that names of Scheduled Castes, minorities and others were excluded from the voter list in the interest of the ruling NDA parties. YSRCP Vizianagaram district president Majji Srinivasa Rao asked the party leaders to be careful and ensure that the numbering forms are conveyed correctly to the booth level officials.
