WA Police kept busy with more than 100 arrests on New Year’s Eve
WA Police said 133 people were arrested and 354 charges laid across WA as people celebrated the end of 2025 on New Year’s Eve.

A WA Police Force spokesman said visible deployments and specialist teams ensured rapid responses to issues that arose.
“Police were highly visible in major entertainment precincts and community centres, supported by specialist support, investigations and strike teams allowing rapid response and early intervention where necessary,” police said.
“This strong presence helped maintain security and deter anti-social behaviour.
“While most entertainers acted responsibly, officers dealt with a small number of alcohol-related incidents.
“While there were large crowds in popular entertainment areas of the metropolis, no significant problems were reported in regional areas.”
Police also issued 142 movement alerts and carried out 1,208 sharp weapons sweeps.
Earlier in the week, WA Police Deputy Commissioner Metropolitan Territory Martin Haime said a strong police presence would be maintained on New Year’s Eve following the latest Bondi attack.
“We will have a strong police presence, as we do every New Year’s Eve, the reality is that we are affected by what is happening in other areas,” he said.
