Walthamstow: Residents evacuated after east London fire

Nearly 100 firefighters were called to the blaze, which affected a house, gardens, sheds and a railway embankment in Walthamstow, east London.
London Fire Brigade (LFB) said two recreation centers had been set up locally for affected residents.
He said he received the first of more than 100 calls about the incident near Vallentin Road and Shernhall Street just before 6.30pm, involving 20 fire trucks and about 125 firefighters.
In an update around 9pm, LFB said the cause of the fire was unknown at this time but “teams are working hard to extinguish the fire as quickly as possible”.
Fire crews warned citizens in the area to keep their windows and doors closed due to the heavy smoke caused by the fire.
Due to road closures, motorists are advised to avoid the area, including Wood Street, Shernhall Street and surrounding roads.
In response to the incident, the Weaver Overground line was partially closed.
Walthamstow MP Stella Creasy said in an Instagram post on Sunday evening that “hundreds” of people had been affected by the fire.
He thanked locals for donations of food and water brought to the recreation centers and said “it would make you cry to see what our community has done.”
