Ann Widdecombe defended Nigel Farage’s re-election bid in Clacton as “the right path to take” in her final TV interview before her death aged 78.

A 28-year-old man has been arrested in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, on suspicion of the murder of a former Tory minister from Reform England who was found dead at his Dartmoor home.

Police were called to Ms Widdecombe’s property in Haytor at around 11.40am on Thursday, July 9.

Detectives said there was nothing to suggest there was a political motivation behind Ms Widdecombe’s death and urged people not to speculate.

Appearing on Talk TV on Wednesday, July 8, the former MP defended the Reform UK leader’s decision to step down as an MP.
