Supermarket chain launches lickable pigs in blankets wrapping paper

Aldi has officially declared war on traditional gift wrapping by unveiling lickable pig-in-a-blanket wrapping papers.
Brits will now be able to taste their gifts before opening them, after the supermarket chain decided edible decorations were the only logical next step.
It’s estimated that the country will inhale 561 million pigs in blankets this festive season (about ten per person), and the supermarket has baked up pastel pink, holly-patterned wraps that smell like pigs in blankets, look like pigs in blankets, and taste like pigs in blankets, inspired by Good Housekeeping 2025 award-winning Specially Selected Double Wrapped Blanket Pigs.
Is he part of the resistance? Small stickers that peel back to reveal “taste patches” that allow users to lick their gifts like oversized salty envelopes.
However, the newspaper will not hit the shelves; This is a special contest giveaway.
From 24 November, shoppers can enter the competition by emailing their full name to wrappingpaper@aldi.co.uk.
Aldi UK’s Commercial Director Julie Ashfield says the idea celebrates Britain’s enduring obsession with festive sausages.
He said: “This unique, lickable wrapping paper is the perfect way to spread extra cheer on Christmas Day.”
This sheet is part love letter, part marketing flex for Aldi’s most indulgent range of Blanket Pigs yet – from double-decker beauties (£2.49) to cheese-stuffed crowd-pleasers and the ultimate boujee sausage-blanket hybrid.
