Wayanad debris slip Live: Search on for 5 missing; Amit Shah pledges Centre’s support

Chief Minister VD Satheesan said the government will conduct a detailed investigation to find out the reasons behind the Wayanad debris slide. He also said that it will be examined whether the directives issued by the central government while granting environmental permission for the tunnel project are complied with by the construction company. Work on the tunnel connecting Wayanad to Kozhikode will resume only after these two inspections are completed, Mr. Satheesan said at a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram.

He said that the decision to carry out the investigations was taken at the Cabinet meeting held in the morning, chaired by him, after examining the reports about the incident. The CM said the Cabinet has decided to take all necessary legal and technical steps to find out the reasons for the incident. – PTI
