President Donald Trump stepped up his rhetoric Friday as he seeks to seize Danish territory on behalf of the United States, saying his administration will take action on Greenland “whether he likes it or not.”

Trump’s latest comments on Greenland came during a White House meeting with oil executives on Venezuela, whose leader was captured in a brazen US military operation less than a week ago.

Trump has long been trying to seize Greenland, citing the Arctic island’s importance to US national security.

His administration says it is currently considering a number of options, including using the U.S. military in Greenland or buying it from Denmark.

Government officials are also considering sending bulk amounts of cash to persuade Greenlanders to join the United States. Reuters It was reported on Thursday.

Asked Friday how much those payments might be, Trump said, “I’m not talking about money for Greenland yet.”
