Droupadi Murmu Releases Constitution Of India In Santhali Language

New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu promulgated the Constitution of India in Santhali at an event held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, the President said that it is a matter of pride and joy for all Santhali people that the Constitution of India is now available in Santhali language written in Ol Chiki script. They will be able to read and understand the Constitution in their own language.
The President said that this year we are celebrating the centenary of the Ol Chiki script. He thanked the Union Minister of State for Law and Justice and his team for bringing the Constitution of India in Ol Chiki script in its centenary year.
Among the dignitaries present at the event were Shri CP Radhakrishnan, Vice President of India, and Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, Union Minister of State for Law and Justice (Independent Charge).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the promulgation of the Constitution of India in Santhali by President Droupadi Murmu. This will help deepen constitutional awareness and democratic participation, Modi said in a social media post. The Prime Minister stated that the country is proud of the Santhali culture and the contribution of the Santhali people to national progress.
Santhali language, which was included in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution by the 92nd Amendment Act, 2003, is one of the oldest surviving languages of India. A significant number of tribal people in Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal and Bihar speak Santhali.
