Cancelling Israel ambassador Hillel Newman’s speech not the way

Today the National Press Club hosts Hillel Newman, Israel’s newly appointed ambassador to Australia, as its special guest. His speech will be broadcast on ABC.

There were widespread expressions of outrage and calls for Newman to be canceled on social media. The NPC board was told he had to resign. Some of these calls have come from journalists whom I greatly admire and who would be surprised to see me disagree with them, but on this point I agree.
