West Bengal phase 2 polls: Mamata Banerjee says CRPF cannot ‘torture people like this’, alleges bias in voting process

Speaking in Bhabanipur, Banerjee said voters waiting in the queue until the end of voting hours should be allowed to vote.
“Those who are waiting in line until 6 pm should be allowed to vote. CRPF cannot torture people like this. State police are not available. CRPF is providing security to a political party instead of guarding borders. I am sorry to say this…” he said.

His remarks came amid the final phase of voting in the state, where claims and counter-claims over the role of central powers were a recurring theme.
Deployment of central forces, including CRPF, is supervised by the Election Commission of India to ensure peaceful voting, especially in sensitive constituencies.
