What now for Fergie? Sarah Ferguson is evicted from Royal Lodge alongside Andrew as shamed ex-Duke is stripped of his Prince title

The disgraced former Duke was stripped of his title of Prince, while Sarah Ferguson was evicted from the Royal Lodge along with Andrew.

But unlike Andrew, who will be moving into a property on the private Sandrigham estate, it is understood Fergie will be making her own arrangements.

Despite her divorce in 1996, she has been living with her disgraced ex-husband since 2008 in a 30-room, World War II apartment. He lives in his Grade I listed mansion.

It spells a bitter end for Andrew and Sarah, the former duchess who once told the Daily Mail: ‘We are the happiest divorced couple in the world. ‘We divorced each other, not each other.’

The couple’s children, Princess Beatrice and Eugenie, will retain their Royal titles.

It appears they will retain their dignity in line with King George V’s 1917 Letters Patent.

But their disgraced father will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.

Amid the row, Charles is said to be very keen to ‘protect’ Princess Beatrice, 37, and Princess Eugenie, 35, who remain as Her Royal Highnesses as grandchildren of Queen Elizabeth.

“He wouldn’t want to sign anything that would affect them,” a source told the Daily Mail.

‘His Royal Highness has today begun a formal process to remove Prince Andrew’s Order, Titles and Honors,’ the Palace said.

‘Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. To date, his lease at Royal Lodge has provided him with legal protection to continue his residence.

‘Formal notice has been given to abandon the lease and he will be moving to alternative private accommodation.

‘These censorships are deemed necessary even though he continues to deny the allegations against him.

‘Her Majesty wishes to make it clear that her thoughts and utmost sympathies are with the victims and survivors of all forms of abuse and remain with them.’

Sources told the Mail that the move was entirely up to the King and his advisors, without pressure from the government or other family members such as Prince William.

‘The process has been going on for some time but there was a need to get it right in the face of some very big challenges,’ a source said.

Prince Andrew was not notified of his move. It was his lease, so the former Duke of York had to give him notice, which shows he didn’t fight the process, it turns out.

The explosive book revolves around her years as the sex slave of pedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein and British madam Ghislaine Maxwell.

Excerpts published by The Guardian show Ms Giuffre, who said she was trafficked three times by Epstein to have sex with Andrew, felt the former Duke was ‘entitled’ and thought sex was her ‘birthright’.

The 400-page autobiography also claims the former Duke said “thank you” in a “shortened British accent” after they first met when she was 17.

He also remembers how Ghislaine Maxwell showered him with praise after the encounter: ‘Good job, the Prince enjoyed himself.’

Prince Andrew denied having sex with Ms. Giuffre, but paid millions in an out-of-court settlement in February 2022.

The Royal Family had been prepared for further scandals the book might cause, knowing it would be published this month.

But a turning point of sorts came when scandalous emails from Andrew to Epstein were revealed to the Mail on Sunday at a world-exclusive event last week, sparking further fears.

In the shocking message, the Prince told the pedophile ‘we are in this together’, a day after the MoS published the infamous photo of the Prince with his then-alleged teenage sex victim, Miss Giuffre.

He said he was ‘concerned’ about the impact this newspaper’s revelations would have on his friend, but assured the despicable billionaire they would ‘rise above’ press scrutiny.

The letter was sent to Epstein 12 weeks after Andrew supposedly cut off all contact with the convicted sex offender.

The leaked email provides conclusive evidence that the Prince lied in his car crash interview with BBC Newsnight when he claimed he had “no contact” with Epstein after the pair were photographed walking together in New York’s Central Park in December 2010.

The revelation comes just weeks after the MoS revealed the former Duchess of York had written an impassioned message to Epstein calling him her “best friend”, despite telling reporters she would never have anything to do with him again.

In his letter to Epstein on 28 February 2011 – the day after the MoS published the now infamous photograph of him with young Virginia Giuffre that led to his downfall – Andrew said: ‘I’m worried about you too! Don’t worry about me!

‘It looks like we’re in this together and we’ll just have to get through it.

‘Otherwise stay in close contact and we’ll play some more soon!!!!’

Andrew signed: ‘A, HRH The Duke of York, KG’.

KG is a reference to ‘Knight of the Garter’, a prestigious position the Duke had held since 2006 and held until it was abolished on Friday.

The hugely embarrassing email has piled further pressure on the Royal Family to sever all ties with the disgraced former Yorkers and raised new questions about their future at the Royal Lodge.

Internal discussions on the issue began weeks ago, after Prince William was left “seething” over his uncle’s behavior at the Duchess of Kent’s funeral last month.

Andrew was pictured pulling up next to the Prince and Princess of Wales; The heir to the throne saw this as distracting him from the ceremony.

No 10 has also reportedly been pressuring the royal family to deal with the scandal, which has been going on for years and led to Andrew stepping back from public life in 2019.

The intervention from Downing Street comes after the Prince became embroiled in the ongoing espionage row in China.

He was suspected of receiving sensitive information after meeting senior official Cai Qi in Beijing at least three times in 2018 and 2019.

After Andrew and his ex-wife agreed to give up their titles, Buckingham Palace released a statement on behalf of the Prince.

It marked the first time he had spoken out on his behalf since his car crash Newsnight interview in 2019.

The statement said: ‘In discussions with the King and my immediate and wider family, we have concluded that the ongoing allegations against me are a distraction from the work of Her Majesty and the Royal Family.

‘As always, I decided to put my duty to my family and my country first. I stand by my decision five years ago to stay away from public life.

‘With His Majesty’s approval, we think that I should now go one step further.

‘Therefore I will no longer use my title or the honors bestowed upon me. As I said before, I strongly deny the accusations against me.’
