Anthony Stewart Head, Buffy and Ted Lasso actor, dies at age 72

London: Anthony Head is a sweet and soft-voiced British actor known for his roles. Buffy the Vampire Slayer And Ted LassoHis family said that he died. He was 72 years old.
Head’s daughters, actor Emily and Daisy Head, told the Press Association news agency that the actor died of complications from pneumonia.
The stage and TV performer became known to British audiences in the 1980s as one half of a romantic couple who appeared in a series of Nescafe Gold Blend instant coffee commercials. The commercials were later reshot for a US audience for Taster’s Choice.
Head rose to wider fame as librarian Rupert Giles, the mentor of the title character in the cult-favorite supernatural series. Buffy the Vampire SlayerIt lasted from 1997 to 2003.
He most recently played Rupert Mannion, the abusive ex-husband of Hannah Waddingham’s character Rebecca. Ted Lasso.
“Our sadness far exceeds the void he leaves behind, but we know his legacy will live on in the shows he was a part of and the audiences who loved them,” his daughters said. “How lucky we are to know that even though he is no longer with us, we still get to watch him do what he loves.”
Head was born in London on 20 February 1954, to documentary filmmaker Seafield Head and actor Helen Shingler. His older brother Murray is also an actor.
Other notable roles included Geoffrey Howe, Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher’s aide, in the Oscar-winning film, played by Meryl Streep. Iron Lady.

He was predeceased by his long-time partner, animal welfare activist Sarah Fisher (61), in 2025.
