Why did India come out of the 1986 Asian Cup?
The first Asian Cup was held in 1984 at the UAE. Sunil Gavaskar won the tournament led by India and defeated Pakistan in the final of the three team competitions.
In 1986, India was prepared to defend its titles in Sri Lanka, but they did not participate in the civil war in Sri Lanka. The Indian government told BCCI to withdraw. Bangladesh, who has not yet played ODI, replaced India.
