When is Ganesh Chaturthi​ in 2025? Auspicious sthapana date, puja vidhi, rituals and visarjan details

Ganesh Chaturthi is one of India’s most popular and famous festivals. This festival, which is dedicated to Lord Ganesha, invites Bappa to their homes as a cultural tradition and sincere expression of dedicated people around the world.

Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated on Wednesday (August 27th) in 2025. The festival points to the beginning of a 10 -day celebration that ended with Ganesh Visarjan on Saturday, September 6, 2025, also known as Anant Chaturdashi.

Rituals and celebrations

1. Pranapratishtha (Sthapana)

In Ganesh Chaturthi, families and communities bring home Lord Ganesha idols. Pranapratishtha ritual is carried out by pointing to the beginning of the festival to bring the divine being into the idol.

2. Shodashopachara Puja (sixteen offers)

Dedicated, flowers, Durva grass, fruits and desserts, which are considered as the favorite of Ganesha in the middle period, make a special puja that offers modaks. Rituals are completed with Aarti.

3. Daily Puja

They are dedicated to the morning and evening for ten days, Bhajans tells and offers Prasad. Cultural programs, music and community meetings in India add a great deal of celebrations.

4. Ganesh Visarjan

On the last day, idols are immersed in rivers, lakes or artificial tanks. Visarjan reminds us that the blessings of Lord Ganesha remained forever when idol is separated from the dedicated. Today, many families prefer environmentally friendly immersion methods such as dissolution of idols in the water bathtubs at home.
