Judicial Body Condemns Fake Letter

New Delhi: The Delhi Judicial Service Association has condemned a fake letter circulating on social media, leveling allegations of corruption against district judicial judges.

Allegedly, a letter dated November 5 began to circulate among many groups and included the names of many court judges and stated allegations against them. The fake letter, written in the name of DHJS Association, was addressed to judges of the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court of India.

In a decision issued by the Delhi Judicial Service Association on Tuesday, it was stated that the letter in question was fake and was circulated to tarnish the image of the Delhi judiciary.

The decision stated: “Such targeted misinformation poses a serious threat to the independence of the judiciary, especially when directed at first instance courts dealing with sensitive and important matters. It has the potential to undermine public confidence, mislead litigants and undermine the faith of those connected to the justice delivery system. Any attempt to interfere with or dilute the independence of the judiciary strikes a blow at the foundations of the rule of law and cannot be tolerated.”

The association also said that it has taken the necessary steps to identify the people behind the letter and that legal action will be taken against them. The statement included the following: “The association strongly condemns this reprehensible act and is taking the necessary steps to identify those responsible and ensure that such attempts to denigrate the institution are dealt with in accordance with the law. The association will initiate appropriate legal proceedings in this regard.”
