Where Was He? Nepals Ex-PM Oli Makes First Appearance 10 Days After Uprising, Relocates To Rented Home

After a 10 -day absenteeism from the eyes of the people, former Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli emerged for the first time for the first time. After flying by a military helicopter from Shivapuri military barracks on Thursday, Oli moved to a rental housing in Bhaktapur. The return to the public eye follows his resignation after the “Gen-Z” protests that waved the country on September 9th.

Escape from protests

Oli’s departure of the Prime Minister’s official residence on 8 and 9 September was needed with the increasing violence of the protests. He was ventilated by a military helicopter and was protected in the Shivapuri military barracks for his safety. The displacement was requested after opening fire to the house of the protesters’s ancestors in Jhapa and the private residence in Kathmandu. After coming to his newly rented house, he was welcomed by a few supporters.

‘Gen-Z’ Revolution

The demonstrations in Nepali youth were a violent protest against a social media ban, which quickly became a movement against favoritism and corruption. The protests resulted in more than 20 deaths and were burned to various government buildings, including Parliament and Oli’s personal house. Oli gave his resignation to President Ram Chandra Paudel, adopted on September 10th. After resigning, Oli and other ministers took refuge in the military barracks and led to various speculation of their location.
