Which? reveals its most recommended current account providers

A new survey has found that a significant 37 percent of current account holders have demonstrated enduring loyalty by staying with their bank for more than two decades.
Which consumer group? The research, commissioned among more than 6,600 account holders, warns that this unwavering loyalty is often not rewarded.
Which? Meticulously evaluated various product features, including fees, overdrafts, expenses and additional benefits.
This was combined with direct surveys of account holders to measure overall customer satisfaction. Providers who demonstrate excellence in both of these important areas have been awarded the prestigious Which award? Recommended Provider (WRP) badge.
This year, six providers successfully earned the coveted badge: Chase, Danske Bank, First Direct, Monzo, Nationwide Building Society and Starling Bank.
Two of these institutions, Chase and Danske Bank, achieved exclusive WRP status for the first time.
First Direct is the longest-running current account WRP, having held the award for over a decade.
Tom Riley, Nationwide’s group retail products manager, highlighted the association’s recently extended “branch promise”.
Last week Nationwide made a new commitment to keep each of its 696 Nationwide and Virgin Money branches open until at least 2030.
Which? He said Allied Irish Bank and Revolut were close to receiving WRP status this year.
Sam Richardson, deputy editor of Which? Money said: “Not all banks are the same, and our analysis proves this. While benefits such as free spending abroad and instant spending notifications have become normal, cashback, loyalty payments and switching bonuses can save you hundreds of lira.”
The survey was conducted by Deltapoll in August.
