White City fire: Three men dead in blaze in west London building

Three people have died following a fire in London, the London Fire Brigade (LFB) said.

The fire service said they received reports of a fire on New Zealand Road in White City, west London, at 6.52pm on Saturday evening.

Three people were rescued by firefighters from a single-storey building near Loftus Road, home of Queens Park Rangers Football Club, and treated by paramedics at the scene.

The LFB said two of them were pronounced dead and another died in hospital after being taken to hospital for further treatment.

Speaking from the scene, LFB deputy commissioner Pat Goulbourne said: “The fire involved a single-storey pavilion and just over half of the structure was damaged by the fire.”

He added: “Control officers mobilized crews from North Kensington, Acton, Chiswick and surrounding fire stations to the scene.

“Fire crews managed to bring the fire under control at 21.25.

“The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Brigade’s specialist fire investigation officers and the Metropolitan Police Service.”

LFB said 15 fire trucks and approximately 100 firefighters participated in the response.
