In response to Angel Mother Angie Morfin’s call, the White House said “no one” will change the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement agenda.
Morfin, whose 13-year-old son Ruben was executed by an illegal alien gang member, made a heartfelt appeal to the administration to “make sure no other mother takes the call I did.” This comes after the new head of Homeland Security, Sen. Markwayne Mullin, is expected to go through the Senate confirmation process and take over the agency at the end of the month.
Morfin emphasized that he is hopeful that Mullin, the Republican senator from Oklahoma, “will continue to listen to Angel Families and stand with us.”
In response, DHS deputy secretary Lauren Bis told Fox News Digital: “Our hearts break for the families and victims of illegal alien crimes who have been completely abandoned and ignored by sanctuary politicians.”

Bis wrote in an emailed statement: “WHAT’S WHY WE DO IT.” He noted that DHS is currently “targeting dangerous criminal illegal aliens to stop another preventable tragedy.”
According to Bis, nearly 70 percent of those arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement are illegal aliens who have been charged or convicted of a crime in the United States
“Under President Trump’s leadership,” Bis continued, “DHS is prioritizing the lives of innocent Americans victimized by illegal aliens.”
Meanwhile, White House press secretary Abigail Jackson said in an emailed statement to Fox News Digital that “no one person can change the Administration’s immigration enforcement agenda.”
Jackson said President Donald Trump’s “top priority has always been the deportation of illegal alien criminals who endanger American communities.”
He emphasized that “thanks to President Trump’s strong immigration enforcement policies, nearly 3 million illegals have left the United States, either through forced deportation or self-deportation, and zero illegals have arrived at the most secure border in U.S. History for nine months.”
In an interview recently shared with Fox News Digital on The American Border Story, Morfin said his family remains devastated even decades after losing his son, Ruben.
“I’m crying for him today like it was just yesterday,” she shared.
In the winter of 1990, Ruben, a young Hispanic teenager with no gang affiliation, was chased and shot in the back of the head by Ezequiel Mariscal, a Mexican national, in Salinas, California. Morfin said he sent Ruben to stay with his grandparents during the holidays because of concerns about gangs in the area.
Then one night, just after midnight, Morfin said he got a phone call.

“I picked up the phone and I could hear my mom screaming, ‘They shot Nino, they shot Nino.’ I knew that was my baby because we named him that because he was so little,” she said.
Morfin said that since she lost her son, she has been fighting for the last 34 years “to keep his memory alive so that he does not die in vain.” She emphasized that she is hopeful that Mullin, a Republican senator from Oklahoma, “will continue to listen to Angel Families and stand with us as we fight to ensure that no other mother receives the call I have.”
Mullin is currently going through an intense Senate confirmation process; During this period, many Democrats and Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., expressed extreme skepticism about his leadership. Meanwhile, Mullin said in his opening statement: “As Secretary of the Interior, I will protect everyone…as much as I protect my own backyard in Oklahoma.”
“The truth is I have a job to do,” Mullin added. “This is bigger than our partisan bickering, bigger than our political differences.”
In response to Morfin’s objection ahead of the Senate confirmation vote, Mullin’s Senate office referred Fox News Digital to the White House.

“We appreciate DHS’s leadership and commitment to standing with these families and preventing future tragedies,” Kiprilov said, “and just last week, we worked with ICE, DHS, and members of Congress to bring Angel Families to the table and ensure their voices were heard and their stories drove real policy change.”
“This is exactly the kind of leadership needed to ensure no family is overlooked again,” Kiprilov said.
