Who is DSP Kalpana Verma, Chhattisgarh officer accused by businessman of ‘love trap’ and extracting Rs 2 crore?

A Raipur-based businessman has claimed that DSP Kalpana Verma received cash, diamond ring, gold chain and even a luxury car from him.
A businessman from Chhattisgarh has accused DSP Kalpana Verma of trapping him in a ‘love affair’ and stealing his money and valuables worth around Rs 2 million. Businessman Deepak Tandon also submitted relevant photographs, videos and documents to support his claims.
According to the complaint, the Raipur-based businessman alleged that DSP Verma received cash, diamond rings, gold chains and even a luxury car from him. He also claimed that he was pressured to register a hotel property in the name of the officer’s brother.
Who is DSP Kalpana Verma?
He is a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Chhattisgarh. Verma is currently posted in Dantewada and has served as DSP in many districts. He also served in the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS). Reports suggest that she met Tandon in 2021 and they subsequently developed a relationship. Tandon alleged that Verma asked for money and expensive gifts from her during their relationship. The businessman also shared WhatsApp chats where money and divorce issues were discussed.
DSP denied the allegations
DSP vehemently denied all accusations. DSP Verma reportedly said that the chat screenshots circulating were fabricated and part of a conspiracy to defame him. He claimed that his family already had a financial dispute with the businessman’s family, which was currently ongoing in court.
