Who is Hardik Tamore? Mumbai player who sparked Rohit Sharma doppelganger moment at Vijay Hazare Trophy

Hardik Tamore made headlines during the Vijay Hazare Trophy when fans noticed his uncanny resemblance to Rohit Sharma. The Mumbai star’s similar moment went viral on social media, leaving fans stunned and leading to widespread comparisons with the Indian skipper.

The Vijay Hazare Trophy is known for spotting future talent, but there was a moment in the last match between Mumbai and Sikkim that made fans doubt their vision. As Mumbai took to the field, the cameras captured a shot that instantly broke the internet: Rohit Sharma, standing in the first shot, was standing right next to a goalkeeper who looked like his mirror image.

This goalkeeper was Hardik Tamore, and the “matrix glitch” moment of having two “Hitmans” on the field at the same time became the most talked about topic of the domestic season.

The viral incident occurred during the Sikkim shootings. While former Indian skipper Rohit Sharma stood in his trademark relaxed slide position, Hardik Tamore was crouched behind the stumps. When the camera zoomed in for a close-up of the cord, the similarity was striking. From his facial structure to his well-groomed beard and the intensity in his eyes, Tamore looked like a younger “carbon copy” of his legendary teammate.

Social media was instantly flooded with memes and side-by-side comparisons. “Rohit Sharma is so good that he keeps wickets to himself now,” joked a fan on

Who is Hardik Tamore?

Indian domestic cricketer Hardik Jitendra Tamore was born on 20 October 1997 in Thane, Maharashtra. He is a right-handed batsman and wicketkeeper and has represented Mumbai’s domestic team consistently across all formats. Tamore made his first-class debut for Mumbai during the Ranji Trophy in January 2020. He also made his T20 and List A debuts in the following seasons.

Tamore has showcased his talent as both a batsman and wicketkeeper in domestic cricket. He proved his ability to score significant runs, including impressive centuries such as 114 in a match against Baroda in the Ranji Trophy and a dynamic 115 in the quarter-final.

For the 2025 Vijay Hazare Trophy, Tamore was selected as Mumbai’s main wicketkeeper along with Rohit Sharma, a rarity in domestic cricket. During the match in Jaipur, Tamore diligently kept wickets while Rohit took care of the slips. A candid photo of two satisfied fans; not only for their cricketing abilities but also for the surprising similarities in stance and demeanor.

Although he is yet to make a mark on the international stage, Tamore’s consistent performances domestically and his ability to balance batting and wicketkeeping make him a valuable asset for Mumbai.
The fun photo with Rohit added a joyful and personal touch to the already excitement-filled contest.
