Mardi Gras 2026: Activist group Pride in Protest booted from march, accuse organisers of attempted censorship

A left-wing activist group was expelled from this year’s Mardi Gras parade after refusing to remove social media posts directed at another group.

Tens of thousands of people are expected to flock to Sydney’s CBD for the 48th annual Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade on Saturday night.

However, the Protest Pride group, which had previously marched in the parade, claimed the march was banned by organisers.

In a statement published on social media, Protest Pride claimed that they were told they would be banned unless they deleted posts about Dayenu, another group that would march on the grounds that they were “pro-genocide”.
