On January 10, Patil was detained and interrogated by the police on the basis of the LOC and was later allowed to go after a notice served under Article 35 (3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), according to the statement of a police officer. This section requires the police to issue a notice to the accused to make a statement where an arrest is not necessary.

An FIR was filed against Patil on December 18, 2025, by the Maharashtra unit’s social media coordinator Nikhil Bhamre, over a post allegedly defaming Modi, HT had reported earlier. Bhamre claimed that the post talked about objectionable things and disinformation about the BJP and its prominent leaders like Prime Minister Modi. The complaint also stated that the post contained objectionable content about a woman, The Indian Express reported.
