A 26-year-old employee of biopharmaceutical giant Biocon was found dead at the company’s premises in Bengaluru on Tuesday (December 30). It was reported that the incident took place around 17:00 at the company’s campus in the Electronic City Phase-II area of the city. Police said S Anantha Kumar may have jumped or fell from the railing on the fourth floor of the office building, NDTV reported. Police suspect it to be a case of suicide but said no death note has been found so far.

Anantha Kumar was a resident of Bengaluru’s Banashankari area and worked in the company’s finance department. “The reason for his alleged death by suicide is yet to be ascertained,” a police official told Deccan Herald newspaper.
Biocon issues statement
Biocon made a statement following Kumar’s death and expressed its condolences to his family. The company, headquartered in Bengaluru, said in a statement: “We are deeply saddened by the death of one of our employees in Bengaluru. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the family during this extremely difficult time. As the matter is currently being investigated by the authorities, we cannot share further details at this stage.” he said.
