Who was Ramakant Daayama? Veteran actor from Chak De! India passes away

The entertainment industry mourned the death of veteran actor Ramakant Daayama, who passed away on May 26. Throughout her distinguished career spanning film, television and theatre, she has won admiration for her versatility and on-screen command.

Actress Shubhangi Latkar, who shared a close bond with the late actor, took to social media to pay a heartfelt tribute to Daayama. She shared a well-liked video from a meeting, remembering him as a lively, warm and inspiring person. In the clip, she was seen singing, dancing and spreading joy to everyone present.

In his emotional note, Latkar said his sudden death left him speechless. He described Daayama as much more than a friend, as someone he deeply admired and respected. Remembering her lively personality, he praised her boundless energy, graceful dancing skills, soulful singing voice and extraordinary acting talent, adding that her words always carried wisdom and depth.

Latkar also admired her courage and spirit and said that she had tremendous inner strength despite her small physical stature. He revealed that the two had planned to collaborate on a Hindi stage play and perform poetry jointly, but these dreams did not come true after his untimely death.

The Cinema and TV Artists Association (CINTAA) also condoled his death, remembering him as a respected former Executive Committee member. In its condolence message, the association recognized his dedication, wisdom and valuable contributions to the artist community.


Apart from his professional achievements, Ramakant Daayama was also the proud father of actress and influencer Yashaswini Dayama. His work extends to films like Chak De! The critically acclaimed theatrical production from across India and Dhanak – remains a lasting testament to his artistry and contribution to Indian entertainment.
