Who will be crowned as king of Mount Panorama?

Okay, let’s go over the basics of the Bathurst 1000.

When does it start?

New South Wales: 11:45 (AEDT)
Northern Territory: 10:15 (ACST)
Queensland: 10:45 (AEST)
South Australia: 11:15 (ACDT)
ACT: 23:45 (AEDT)
Victoria: 11:45 (AEDT)
Tasmania: 11:45 (AEDT)
Western Australia: 09:45 (AWST)

Where can I watch?

The race is broadcast on Channel Seven and Kayo Sports.

How long is the race and how long does it last?

It says on it, but the Bathurst enduro is a 1000km race, which means 161 laps of the 6,213km track.

Traditionally it takes about six hours to find the winner. The length of the race in terms of time may depend on how many accidents occur and how often the safety car slows the pace.

Last year the safety car was launched only once, and the team of Kostecki and Hazelwood became the first team to win in under six hours, driving the Erebus Motorsport Chevrolet.

What is the weather forecast?

For those who enjoy the chaos and drama of a little wet weather, you’re in luck. There will be rain.

Weather forecasts say there is a “95 per cent” chance of rain in the afternoon and early evening, and while it won’t be too heavy, it will be enough to make the track slippery.

How fast are they going?

It takes just over two minutes for V8 Supercars to do one lap of Mount Panorama.

The qualifying record was 2:03.3736, set by Chaz Mostert in his Walkinshaw Andretti United Holden ZB Commodore in 2021. This corresponded to an average speed of 181.2 km/h.

The highest speed measured on the track was 300.5 km/h on the Conrod Straight by Shane van Gisbergen in 2023.
