Why Palantir CEO believes people with ADHD, autism and neurodivergence will thrive in AI boom

Palantir CEO Alex Karp listed two groups that should not be worried about with the rise of artificial intelligence. During a recent podcast, Karp talked about the bleak outlook for the job market due to the rise of artificial intelligence systems and the negative consequences it creates.

Speaking on the TBPN podcast, Karp said, “There are basically two ways to know that you have a future. First, you have some professional training. Or second, you are neurodivergent. When I say neurodivergent, I mean broadly defined.”

“It’s like you’re sitting here. You can have an enterprise tools business. You can do low-level coding, you can do low-level lawyering, you can do low-level reading and writing,” he added.

“Anyone with normal-shaped skills is dyslexic, meaning that things that used to be valuable are not as valuable anymore. What they need to learn to do is to be more of an artist, to look at things from a different perspective, to be able to build something unique,” Karp added on the podcast.

by 2024 Gartner research20% of sales organizations at Fortune 500 companies will actively recruit neurodivergent talent for conditions such as autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and dyslexia to improve business performance.

Palantir CEO explains his history with dyslexia:

Karp has previously spoken publicly about his history with dyslexia, calling it a ‘formative moment’ in his life.

“If you’re severely dyslexic, you can’t play from a playbook. There’s no playbook that a dyslexic can master, and so we learn to think freely,” he said in a previous interview.

“Honestly, I would cut off my arms and legs, or at least anything, to get rid of dyslexia. But the real advantage is that I operate in a way that has little to do with what others think,” Karp added.

Meanwhile, Palantir had also created a “Neurodivergent Fellowship,” which the company has made clear is not a diversity measure but a way to attract “exceptional talent.”

“Neurodivergent individuals will play a disproportionate role in shaping the future of America and the West. They see the performance ideologies of the past and perceive the beauty that still exists in the world that technology and art can bring to light,” the job posting read.
